Your Rights Under the Australian Consumer Law

Consumer guarantees apply under the Australian Consumer Law. Nothing on this page excludes, restricts or modifies those guarantees. For more information about your rights, see consumerlaw.gov.au.

If a product has a minor problem, we may repair it, replace it or refund it at our discretion. If a product has a major problem, you are entitled, within a reasonable time after delivery, to:

  • reject the goods and receive a refund;
  • reject the goods and receive an identical replacement, or one of similar value if reasonably available to us; or
  • keep the goods and receive compensation for the reduction in value caused by the problem.

Change of Mind

For health and safety reasons, and consistent with our obligations under the Poisons and Therapeutic Goods Act 1966 (NSW), the Poisons and Therapeutic Goods Regulation 2008 (NSW) and the Pharmacy Board of Australia's professional practice standards, we cannot accept the return of any medicine or compounded product once it has been dispatched.

Once a product has left our pharmacy we cannot verify the conditions under which it has been stored, and it cannot be returned to stock or re-supplied to any other patient.

For this reason we do not offer returns, exchanges, credits or refunds for change of mind. Under the Australian Consumer Law, a business is not required to provide a remedy where you have simply changed your mind.

This does not affect your rights where a product is faulty, damaged, incorrect or defective. Those rights are set out above and below, and nothing on this page limits or excludes them.

Damaged, Defective or Incorrect Products

If a product arrives damaged, inoperable, incorrect or defective, contact us within 48 hours (2 business days) of delivery on 1300 345 877 or at scripts@compounding4vet.com.au.

Please have your invoice number available and, where possible, provide photographs of the product and its packaging. This helps us investigate the cause and determine whether other orders may be affected.

Where we agree a product is defective, we will replace it, credit it or refund it. Return shipping for authorised returns is arranged at our expense.

Return Authorisation (RA) Numbers

All returns must be authorised by us before you send anything back. Products returned without a Return Authorisation number cannot be identified against an order and may be returned to you unprocessed.

To obtain a Return Authorisation number:

  1. Contact us on 1300 345 877 or at scripts@compounding4vet.com.au within 48 hours of delivery, quoting your invoice number and describing the problem.
  2. Our team will assess the issue and, where a return is appropriate, issue you an RA number by email together with return instructions.
  3. Write the RA number clearly on the outside of the return packaging and include a copy of the RA email inside the parcel.
  4. Return the product using a traceable courier or registered post to: Compounding 4 Vet, 5/105A Vanessa Street, Kingsgrove NSW 2208.

In some cases we may ask you to retain and quarantine the product rather than return it, or may arrange collection. We will tell you which applies when we issue the RA number.

It is your responsibility to ensure products are protected from damage in transit. Returns that arrive damaged or soiled through inadequate packaging may not be accepted.

You will be notified by email once your return has been received and processed. Please retain your invoice as proof of purchase.

How Refunds Are Made

Approved refunds are made to the original payment method wherever possible. Where that is not possible, we will arrange an alternative method or issue a credit to your account, as agreed with you.

Refunds are approved by the Pharmacist in Charge or by senior management.

Product Quality Complaints and Adverse Events

Patient safety is our first concern. If you suspect a problem with the quality of a compounded medicine, or an animal patient experiences a suspected adverse reaction to a medicine we have supplied, please contact us immediately on 1300 345 877.

Please provide, where available:

  • The product name, strength and batch or dispensing number from the label
  • The invoice or order number
  • The prescribing veterinarian and the animal patient concerned
  • A description of the problem or the reaction observed, and when it occurred

Where possible, please retain the product and its packaging and store it as labelled, so it can be examined.

All product quality complaints and suspected adverse events are recorded and investigated by the Pharmacist in Charge. We will contact you with the outcome of the investigation. Where an investigation indicates that other supplied units may be affected, we will contact the veterinary practices concerned. Suspected adverse events are reported to the relevant regulatory authority where required.

Reporting a suspected adverse event does not affect your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
